Eating Disorders

EXPERIENCED, EMPATHETIC CARE

Eating disorders are serious illnesses that impact all areas of a person’s life, health and wellbeing. Because eating disorders are often about so much more than just food, healing and recovery requires digging deep to uncover the root cause of the eating disorder. Recovery often challenges an individual to rethink their core beliefs about food and their body.

Courtney works with clients with the following eating disorder diagnoses:

  • Anorexia Nervosa

  • Bulimia Nervosa

  • Binge Eating disorder

  • Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (AFRID)

  • Other Specified Feeding or Eating Disorder (OSFED)

  • Orthorexia

Disordered Eating

A GENTLE, BALANCED APPROACH

Courtney works with clients who feel they have a chaotic and broken relationship with food. If you’re experiencing disordered eating behaviors, it’s important to seek help early on to prevent an eating disorder.

Courtney can help if you’re struggling with:

  1. Chronic dieting

  2. Skipping meals

  3. Overeating to the point of discomfort

  4. Feeling guilt about your food choices

  5. Mindless eating/snacking

  6. Thinking about food 24/7

  7. Feeling chaotic or out of control around food

  8. Using exercise to compensate for foods eaten

Intuitive Eating

SUPPORT IN EVERY STAGE

Courtney teaches clients about intuitive eating and how they can incorporate the principles of IE into their own lives. Intuitive eaters listen to their body’s signals to tell them what and how much to eat. It can feel like a really novel concept in today’s world where there is so much external influence on eating.

Courtney can help if you’re struggling with:

  1. Hunger and fullness cues

  2. Food rules or avoiding diet culture

  3. Honoring your cravings

  4. Trusting your body and it’s innate ability to tell you what it needs

  • Courtney understood me in a way I have never experienced.

I had always wished to get to a point in my life where I wasn't thinking about food 24/7 and using it as punishment or emotional comfort, instead of nourishment or it being a way to spend time with others. Courtney understood me in a way I have never experienced and that was such a good feeling. She has incredible insight into the challenges of eating disorders; and helped me slowly push myself to shift my beliefs I had held around food for 20 years. I am blessed to have met her and would recommend anyone struggling with a negative relationship with food to make an appointment with her.

  • I have learned so much from Courtney as she's guided our daughter.

When my husband and I realized that our daughter was struggling with a possible eating disorder, we knew we needed outside support. Courtney came highly recommended as a nutritionist with expertise around disordered eating. From the very first appointment, I knew she was exactly who our daughter needed. Courtney's gentle, encouraging, knowledgeable, strong, and wise presence has been the greatest gift to our daughter and to our family. Courtney listens well, guides with beautiful and tender empathy, and communicates and challenges food narratives clearly and kindly. I am certain that our daughter would not be progressing as she is without the help and support of Courtney. I would recommend Courtney to anyone struggling with an eating disorder, disordered eating, or even just a complicated relationship around food and nutrition. I have learned so much from Courtney as she's guided our daughter. Her insights and approach have helped immensely, and I will be forever grateful for her wisdom and support.

  • Eating disorders are incredibly vulnerable to talk about, and Courtney has been so compassionate.

I've had a complicated relationship with eating most of my life, recently taking the form of a restrictive eating disorder. Courtney has been the most amazing and supportive nutritionist I could have imagined. Eating disorders are incredibly vulnerable to talk about, and Courtney has been so compassionate and has met me at all the different places I have been throughout this experience. I was very nervous to open up about my struggles with eating and body image, but since the very first day, I have felt a true sense of freedom to share my struggles, wins, and everything in between with her. There have been so many times she has understood exactly what I'm feeling even when I struggle to put it into words. I have learned so much from her and have felt truly seen and understood. I joke with my mom that I wish she could be my nutritionist and my therapist. I can honestly say that I look forward to every appointment I have with Courtney, and I am so grateful for how she has helped me.
