Care Available

Initial Consultation. During this 60 minute initial consultation, I will spend time learning all about your current relationship with food and your body and what this relationship would look like in an ideal world to you. We will dig deep into symptoms you may be experiencing such as fatigue, GI issues, mental clarity/brain fog, food cravings, sleep issues etc. I will assess your nutrition needs and creating an individualized care plan for you. I will also reach out to any other providers involved in your care when a collaborative approach might be helpful. The first visit will provide the framework for our work together.

Follow-up Visits. We will spend between 30 and 45 minutes together for follow-up visits based on your needs. During these sessions I provide nutrition counseling, education and ongoing support as we work towards your goals. We will problem solve together as barriers arise. My clients have access to an electronic food journal where they can post photos or descriptions of meals/snacks throughout the day. This allows me to provide feedback and support between sessions. I also always encourage my clients to email me at any point between sessions for additional support. Working with me means support for more than just our scheduled meeting times. I am available by Zoom or phone to meet with other providers and collaborate about client care or to meet with parents and care givers looking for support at home and general updates.

Meal Support

Meals can be hard, especially meals eaten alone when you’re trying to hold yourself accountable. Meal support is available to help with accountability and to provide a fun and supportive meal time experience. I am available for meal support at any local Charlottesville, VA restaurant. During this session we will navigate the menu together, practice honoring taste buds and cravings as well as choosing foods that make us feel well. This session usually lasts between 30-60 minutes. This can be coupled with a grocery store outing if done at a spot like Whole Foods Market where there are meals available and groceries. Please email me to coordinate a time for meal support.

Grocery Store Outings

Grocery shopping is a lot more fun when it’s done with your dietitian! During grocery store outings I provide product suggestions and reviews, answer questions, and help clients challenge buying foods or products that they have been avoiding but are interested in trying. These outings are fun and take the stress out of navigating the grocery store. Timing for these appointments is very flexible and will occur in Charlottesville, VA. This session usually lasts about 30 minutes. Please email me to coordinate a time for a grocery store outing.

  • Courtney understood me in a way I have never experienced.

I had always wished to get to a point in my life where I wasn't thinking about food 24/7 and using it as punishment or emotional comfort, instead of nourishment or it being a way to spend time with others. Courtney understood me in a way I have never experienced and that was such a good feeling. She has incredible insight into the challenges of eating disorders; and helped me slowly push myself to shift my beliefs I had held around food for 20 years. I am blessed to have met her and would recommend anyone struggling with a negative relationship with food to make an appointment with her.

  • I have learned so much from Courtney as she's guided our daughter.

When my husband and I realized that our daughter was struggling with a possible eating disorder, we knew we needed outside support. Courtney came highly recommended as a nutritionist with expertise around disordered eating. From the very first appointment, I knew she was exactly who our daughter needed. Courtney's gentle, encouraging, knowledgeable, strong, and wise presence has been the greatest gift to our daughter and to our family. Courtney listens well, guides with beautiful and tender empathy, and communicates and challenges food narratives clearly and kindly. I am certain that our daughter would not be progressing as she is without the help and support of Courtney. I would recommend Courtney to anyone struggling with an eating disorder, disordered eating, or even just a complicated relationship around food and nutrition. I have learned so much from Courtney as she's guided our daughter. Her insights and approach have helped immensely, and I will be forever grateful for her wisdom and support.

  • Eating disorders are incredibly vulnerable to talk about, and Courtney has been so compassionate.

I've had a complicated relationship with eating most of my life, recently taking the form of a restrictive eating disorder. Courtney has been the most amazing and supportive nutritionist I could have imagined. Eating disorders are incredibly vulnerable to talk about, and Courtney has been so compassionate and has met me at all the different places I have been throughout this experience. I was very nervous to open up about my struggles with eating and body image, but since the very first day, I have felt a true sense of freedom to share my struggles, wins, and everything in between with her. There have been so many times she has understood exactly what I'm feeling even when I struggle to put it into words. I have learned so much from her and have felt truly seen and understood. I joke with my mom that I wish she could be my nutritionist and my therapist. I can honestly say that I look forward to every appointment I have with Courtney, and I am so grateful for how she has helped me.
